Sugar thought she was a duck, She was being raised by Briget,  the mama duck


When all the other duckies were eating corn, Sugar refused to eat corn. She spit it out! She could not find anything to eat. So she ate cabbage instead.

When all the duckies were in the pond. SPLASH! Went Sugar! She jumped into the pond. She loved it!


When the cute little duckies followed their mother duck out of the pond, Sugar followed too.  There was a surprise!  All of the duckies knew about it but Sugar did not. 

The surprise was a human home for Sugar!

Sugar was surprised!  Sugar loved her new home!  But she would miss the duckies so the humans made a little pool for the duckies and they all lived happily ever after.

A Day at Central Park with Friends

Yesterday October 10 2010  we went to Central Park in New York. I met a friend named L. She is really nice and so cool and funny. I think we will be very good friends which we were it was really cool. We went to Central Park because it was John Lennon's  from The Beatles birthday! It was actually Saturday. But we went yesterday. We climbed on rocks, we saw a cool show.  Then when we went out for pizza and met my favorite uncle there!  My uncle got me this really, really, really, really, really cool hat that matched my jacket.  I never thought I would find a hat that would match my jacket and be so cool like that!  He also got me a beautiful necklace and one for A and L and L's sister G too!

L is so cool.  She is funny and awesome.  I loved her outfit that she wore.  She had a cool hat too!  She likes fashion just like me.  AND Halloween and Christmas are her favorite holidays just like me.  And she likes to play cards just like me.  And she likes shiny rocks just like me.

Picking a Pumpkin

Yesterday I got to pick my pumpkin!

I was looking for the smallest, cutest pumpkin I could find.  I found three little ones, but I couldn't get those because I could only get one.

Hoecakes

We are learning about George Washington.  He ate hoecakes for breakfast, so we tried making some.
Hoecakes are really good. I tried them with honey. I didn't like it with honey.

This is the recipe we used.  It is from Paula Deen:

Ingredients

• 1 cup self-rising flour
• 1 cup self-rising cornmeal, or from a mix (recommended: Aunt Jemima's)
• 2 eggs
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 3/4 cup buttermilk
• 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon water
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil or bacon grease
• Oil, butter, or clarified margarine, for frying

Directions

Mix well all ingredients, except for the frying oil. Heat the frying oil or butter in a medium or large skillet over medium heat. Drop thebatter, by full tablespoons, into the hot skillet. Use about 2 tablespoons of batter per hoecake. Fry each hoecake until brown and crisp; turn each hoecake with a spatula, and then brown the other side. With a slotted spoon, remove each hoecake to drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Leftover batter will keep in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
